Staging Nostalgia: Phoebe Bridgers' Stadium Sleepover

By pure chance both times, I was able to see Phoebe Bridgers perform at her Buskirk Chumley popup show this summer and once again on her official “Lost” tour. Every time, I’ve been struck by feeling as though I’ve been transported into another world–one that doesn’t necessarily exist but is true; one that I can only access if I use my heart instead of my brain. If her popup show looked literally like being at a sleepover in your friend’s basement (are we allowed to say what happened at those now?), her stadium tour encapsulated what it is to look back on these memories.

Hannah Frances’ ‘Keeper of the Shepherd’ shows how grief and other deep emotions can be channeled into art

On a crisp fall evening last October, Hannah Frances played solo to a crowd at the Buskirk-Chumley Theater. She walked briskly across the stage as the lights illuminated her smile and her monochromatic outfit. Her voice and big electric guitar quickly filled the room. It didn’t take much for her to captivate this eager audience.

I Thought The Strokes Were a NYC Band?

On Friday, March 8th, 2024, I was able to attend the Strokes, NNAMDÏ, Beach Bunny, and Uwade concert for the Chicagoan congressional candidate Kina Collins on behalf of WIUX. The concert was half a birthday celebration for Collins, and half a political rally to encourage voter registration and explain Collin’s policies to the public.
