The Regrettes, an American punk rock band, was formed in 2015 in Los Angeles by frontwoman Lydia Night. During their career, The Regrettes released three studio albums, Feel Your Feelings Fool! (2017), How Do You Love? (2019), and Further Joy (2022). On November 14, 2023, the band took to their Instagram account (@theregrettesband) to say, “If you’re reading this or you’ve been to a show or bought a record, you’ve given us all some of the best years of our lives. After all these amazing years together, we are parting ways to focus on other projects. There is absolutely nothing but love in our hearts for each other and you all and we’re eternally grateful.”
This week, we dive into the topic of the best Super Bowl halftime performances in honor of Usher’s (2nd) Super Bowl debut. Here’s what our writers had to say…
On Sunday the 11th, we witnessed a thrilling overtime win for the Kansas City Chiefs, earning their 3rd Super Bowl win in the past five years. While many people were recovering from the game and venting their frustrations online, my mind turned back to this year’s halftime show, where Usher rocked Allegiant Stadium with some of his classics.

Merriam-Webster defines a snub as treating something with contempt or neglect; keeping this definition close in mind, here are 3 rock artists who I think have been neglected, contempted, and well for that matter, snubbed, when regarding their lack of induction into the Rock Hall. In this article, I will try my best to convince you why rock icons such as Jim Croce, Poco, and Warren Zevon, deserve to find their rightful spot on the walls of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Kaliii, 23, is an Atlanta drill rapper who experiments in R&B and pop. Kaliii released her first single, “OOP” in 2019, but started gaining attention on TikTok in June 2023 with her song “Area Codes.” The single peaked at No. 33 on The Billboard Hot 100. Following her recent success, Kaliii has been dubbed one of the new “it girls of rap.”
2023 is officially the year of Boygenius. Their newest release, a short and sweet EP running just barely over 12 minutes, came out this past October, fittingly on Friday the 13th. This EP is a companion to their first full-length album, The Record, which dropped earlier this year on March 31st. The Rest continues the themes of intimate friendships and queer love that are explored in The Record, as well as expanding upon the relatable topics of depression and the pressures of being a 20-something-year-old.

Mitski’s seventh studio album The Land is Inhospitable and So are We was released September 15, 2023, and it is beautiful and heart-wrenching in only the way a Mitski album can be. Coming in at just over half an hour long, this album explores themes of love, loss, over-indulgence, and the raw reality of change. Mitski is no stranger to writing lyrics dealing with painful yet relatable emotions; however, each time she releases a new song it feels entirely innovative and fresh, reaching emotions I didn’t even know I could feel.
For last year's annual Culture Shock music festival, I had the pleasure of talking to the members of The Skaaholics. The local Bloomington band is made up of five members; Omar Aguilera on keys, guitar, and accordion, Ray Sarmiento on drums, Angel Ochoa on guitar, Dany Inche on bass, and Kcun on vocals. They are a fusion band that combines elements of Ska, Rock, Reggae, Punk, Dub, Hip-Hop, and Latin rhythms.
