10th Anniversary of Cloud Appreciation Society this Saturday

The 10th anniversary of the Cloud Appreciation Society, a division of Great Britain's' Royal Geographical Society, is this Friday Sept. 25. This milestone will be marked by a day long conference entitled Escape into the Clouds with 6 outstanding speakers as well as live music interspersed throughout the day. The speeches include "Cloud Spotting for Beginners" by Gavin Pretor-Pinney, who is the founded of the society, and "The Namer of Clouds Lived Here" which will be a speech by Richard Hamblyn on Luke Howard who was the 1800's meteorologist who devised the naming system for clouds we still use today.
The Cloud Appreciation Society is for exactly that, appreciating clouds. Together the society shares photos, art, poetry and news of clouds in the meteorological world. The event runs from 9.30am to 4.30pm and will be located at Royal Geographical Society - which is right next door to Royal Albert Hall.According to the Cloud Appreciation Society website the event "is open to all – so long as they like clouds (otherwise they won’t be allowed in)".
