CAVY’S CUDOS

Patrick Petterson- My first kudos goes out to Patrick Petterson, a rookie cornerback for the Arizona Cardinals. He returned a punt 99 yards for a score to get the Cardinals an over-time win against the St. Louis Rams. This was Petterson’s 3rd punt return for a score in his first 8 games, a new NFL record.

Michigan State Men’s Basketball-The Spartans and Tom Izzo will again add to their impressive lists of recruits next year when they will be joined by top shooting guard prospect Gary Harris. Harris, a senior at Hamilton Southeastern in Indianapolis, opted for Michigan State over Kentucky, Purdue, and IU. The commitment from Harris had slid Michigan State into the 3rd spot on the list of top 2012 Recruiting Classes, as well as the 2nd spot on Cavy’s Cudos.

LSU Tigers- Kudos to Les Miles and the LSU Tigers defeated Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide in OT 9-6 in what some were calling the “Game of the Century”. The hard-fought win for the Tigers proves they deserve the #1 ranking and are not only willing, but perfectly capable of defending that status against the nation’s most prestigious teams.

Craig Smith- The quick rookie center for the Nashville Predators, Craig Smith, had 2 goals and an assist in their 4-2 victory over the Anaheim Ducks. Smith, a University of Wisconsin graduate, is tied with David Legwand for team points lead at 14 points.

Joe Flacco- My final Kudos goes to Joe Flacco, who led the Ravens to a victory against the Steelers on Sunday night. Flacco tossed the go-ahead touchdown with 8 seconds left to rookie wide out Torrey Smith, capping off a 92-yard game winning drive. Is this the year that Joe Flacco finally silences his critics and proves to be a top-tier quarterback?
