On Sunday April 3, the Bishop will be awash in rustic bluesy sounds harkening back to the riverboat days of the Mississippi River.  Davy Jay Sparrow and His Well-Known Famous Drovers, formed right here in Bloomington Indiana, will take the stage first.  The rugged swells of Davy Jay Sparrow’s southern croon and the crisp twanging instrumentals of the Famous Drovers will transport the listener to a bygone era of outlaws, vagrants, and drunks living on the fringe of civilization and their own sanity.

Following Sparrow, Pokey Lafarge and The South City Three will complete the second half of the show.  Gaining considerable success since their formation in St. Louis, Missouri, Lafarge, a seemingly old soul in a young body, and company have made a name for themselves channeling the spirit of days in which riverboats lazily sailed down the Mississippi.  Integrating country blues, ragtime, and early jazz, Pokey Lafarge and The South City Three make up one of the country’s most original and authentic roots bands around, charming audiences everywhere with masterful rustic artistry, foot stomping beats, and honestly disarming lyrics.

Don’t miss your chance to experience a few of the best in American roots music on Sunday April 3 at the Bishop, located at 123 S. Walnut Street.  Tickets are $5 and the doors open at 8 PM. 18+
