WIUX Sports Team to Broadcast from Final Four in Indianapolis
April 3rd, 2010 | Published in News
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — For WIUX Co-Sports Directors Ben Heisler and Marcus Wirth, hosting a remote sports talk show from a local bar or restaurant isn’t a new occurrence.
All the more reason to expand their and the station’s horizons at one of the largest sporting events in the world.
This Monday, April 5th from 5-7pm EST, Heisler and Wirth will host “The Sports Directors Show” from the Grand Hall inside Union Station, right across the street from Lucas Oil Stadium, the home of the 2010 Men’s Final Four.
“All of us at the station are so thrilled to have this opportunity to deliver a show right from where the action is,” says Heisler, a senior majoring in Journalism. “It’s a perfect way to showcase our station and our abilities at a grand stage like the Final Four. We can’t wait to get down there and deliver a great show.”
The event WIUX will be broadcasting from is the NCAA Elite Experience Hospitality Party, hosted by former NBA star John Salley and PrimeSport, the official ticket and hospitality provider for the 2010 Final Four. The Directors were contacted by PrimeSport Account Managers about the opportunity to broadcast live from the event and decided it would be a terrific opportunity for not just the station, but for the listeners as well.
“This is a testament to how far our Sports Department has come here at WIUX,” says Wirth, a senior majoring in Sports Communication. “A few years ago, we didn’t even have the capabilities to do remote broadcasts and now we’re broadcasting live from the Final Four? It’s incredible!”
Potential guests on the 5-7pm EST include Salley, Brendan Ross, President and CEO of RazorGator.com, and many other attending NCAA coaches and players.
