My IU Bucket List

My IU Bucket List

By: MORGAN TAYLOR

As I started this column I was making a ‘to do list.’ If you know me, you would know that this is not out of the ordinary. I would put breathing on a ‘to do list’ if it didn’t come natural because I really depend on lists for my everyday life. The list I am making now is my end of the year ‘to do list’. It includes studying for my French final, putting together my final journalism project and buying the perfect heels for my birthday which is this Thursday.

It recently hit me that I have one year left at Indiana University. I will be a senior in two weeks and I will have to do everything that I could have possible wanted to do in my undergrad. The thing with my undergrad years is that I feel as if I have not done enough. I have never gone to a football or basketball game. I have only been to two restaurants on Kirkwood. I have also never been to hang out near the IU Art Museum near the cool colorful lights. I have a lot of IU related things to do next year and nine months to do them.

I googled the official IU bucket list and found quite a few lists. I figured that I would have to go about tackling this bucket list with much precision. I will write down everything I want to do and hang it on my refrigerator next year. I found three good lists thanks to google. As I carefully read through each of them, I slowly realized that I have done way more than I thought I have. I have gone to the Kirkwood Observatory. I have laughed and snickered at the sex paintings in the Kinsey Institute. I have gone bowling late at night in the IMU Bowling Alley. I have had three very successful little 500 experiences. The more I read, the more I realized that my experience at IU has been pretty well rounded. I may have not gone to any athletic events but everything that has truly appealed to me on all of the ‘Official IU Bucket Lists’, I have done.

I still plan on making a pretty extensive list of things to do next year, but I don’t feel as pressured as I did before. I have plenty of time to enjoy $2 Tuesdays at Kilroys and I just purchased my 2012-13 season tickets for the IU football and basketball team. I cannot wait to start checking things off of my bucket list. That’s the best part of the ‘to do’ list anyway.

If you also have IU Bucket List fever; here are the websites I used.
