The Sick Tour 2012
By: Pat Olson
As the noises died down, I could not help but think of what had just happened over the past 5 hours. The thundering of the amps, the brightness of the lights, the fog from the smoke machines, the crash of the drums — all of it culminated in that particular instance.
The Sick Tour 2012 comprises up of bands The Crimson Armada, Vanna, Chunk! No, Captain Chunk!, For The Fallen Dreams, Attila and headliner Chelsea Grin. For those of you that do not recognize any of those names, it’s essentially a metal tour, with hard rock influences spotted in.
It was my first time seeing TCA, Vanna and CNCC, and I must say they all put on a spectacular show. All of the members from those bands seemed stoked to be performing that night, especially Vanna’s guys hailing from Boston. Their trailer’s rear axle broke on the way to the show and they narrowly escaped a canceled performance.
The Fallen Dreams, Attila and Chelsea Grin easily performed better than I had ever seen them. Everyone seemed on top of their game (without any influence of alcohol beforehand) and nobody pushed so hard as to lose voice or singing ability. Dylan Richter of For The Fallen Dreams has been working on his clean vocals and they’ve never sounded better. Chris Fronzak of Attila always puts on a ridiculously good show thanks to stage presence and a style unmatched by anyone else. Alex Koehler has always performed with insane high’s and mid’s that make you wonder how those sounds are even possible, on top of the fact that he has a bit of an “evil” stage presence.
The atmosphere was intense, and if you enjoy this music, I highly recommend making it to one of the tour dates left on the bill.
