You Should Hear: Heems
Himanshu Suri, a.k.a Heems, spitfire MC and member of the three-man multimedia rap phenomena Das Racist whose album “Relax” was met with huge success this year, has recently released a series of solo tracks that are to appear on his upcoming mixtape “Nehru Jackets” set for release on January 1st, 2012. In the DR tradition of offering free music to fans, Heems has leaked 5 bomb-ass tracks:

Imbued with Heems’ signature knack for satire, the tracks range from decidedly political, commenting on issues of race, government, law enforcement, and technology, to purely comedic. Stylistically, the work is consistent with DR‘s established sound; repetitive sampling, abundant pop culture references, and a dense, highly literate flow. Heems somehow manages to make you laugh, dance, and reexamine your cultural perspective in almost every song he graces. For Das Racist enthusiasts, “Nehru Jackets” is sure to please. According to Heems, solo mixtapes from the band’s other two members, Kool AD and Dapwell, are expected to drop around the same time in January. Get stoked.
