California native and ex-Pocahaunted band member Bethany Cosentino loves the beach, the summer, and being “a lazy creep”. In 2009, upon her return to the west coast, she translated all of those things into songs. Teaming up with her good friend Bob Brunno, she created Best Coast, a lo-fi beach pop gem that delivers Cosentino’s love of the beach through a relaxing blend of fuzzy, reverb laden guitars, “beach boys bass lines”, and vocals reminiscent of early Liz Phair. While Best Coast still lacks a full length record, they have released numerous 7” singles that have created a loud buzz in the indie rock community, and, with a new album in the works, they have secured a position as one of the most anticipated new artists of the year. With Best Coast’s chilled out sound and dreamy lyrics, their performance will leave you less shocked and more relaxed, longing for a visit to the beach at this year’s Culture Shock.
